I've taken on a new challenge...

I'm not Catholic and don't give up anything for Lent, but my best friends brother is Catholic so we started talking about it. She told me that he was giving up tv for 40 days, which I thought was crazy! However, the idea of sacrificing something for 40 days kind of intrigued me. I'm always looking for ways to become a better person so I decided to give something up for 40 days too.
I'm giving up all forms of eating out until April 1st. That means I can't eat anything that I didn't buy from a grocery store. So no more Starbucks in the morning, no eating out for lunch, no running to the deli downstairs for a brownie...I am willing to make an exception if someone brings treats to work or if my parents pick up dinner for me and bring it by without me asking or something like that.
The goal is to save some money and hopefully lose some weight. I want to cook more and feel healthier and I know that all the eating out I do costs me waaaay to much money and saps my energy-oh and not to mention makes me gain a ton of weight.
Wish me luck!

Why?

I'm not sure I'll ever understand why children get sick and have to suffer. My heart is breaking for little Layla and her family. MckMama posted a blog that mentioned Layla so I headed over to her Twitter page and then read through her mom's blog as well. I literally have been sitting at my desk and crying. I can't imagine what her family is going through or how much little Layla has had to suffer. If you would say a pray or send good thoughts their way I think they would really appreciate it-they're very much needed!

Hmmm...I don't know about this...

One of my best friends invited me to an "adult" party. She said that someone comes in and shows you all kinds of products like massage oils, sheet softeners, toys, etc. Now I'm not necessarily shy about that kind of stuff, but I am a little nervous to go to her house with a bunch of our friends (including people we work with) and have someone present all of that to us. She promised me that it's classy and tasteful and I'll be surprised at how it's not really awkward at all-I sure hope so! It's this afternoon so I've got my fingers crossed that I won't be super embarrassed the whole time with flaming red cheeks!

Craving potato soup!

I'm home sick again and all I want is some potato soup. Dayquil is amazing until it wears off and then I feel HORRIBLE! I've spent the day sleeping and watching tv, which would be amazing if I felt better. Hopefully this goes through my system soon!

Oh my goodness!

This was delicious! I made Pioneer Woman's Chicken Parm and it just might be the best thing I've ever made :) I had to deviate from the recipe a bit-ziti instead of linguine, easter colored sugar instead of regular (how do I not have any sugar?!?!!), less crushed tomatoes, etc. I only made two chicken breasts because they were so large and I was starving. My tummy is very happy indeed!

I spent the day at home today...

because I was beyond exhausted at work yesterday and started feeling kind of bad as the night went on. When I woke up this morning I was still sooo tired and was feeling kind of sick. I decided to spend the day at home and let my body have the much needed rest it was craving. I've been coughing and running a slight fever, but I hope this is just a short lived thing. I have a meeting at work tomorrow that I need to go to so I'll be there sick or not.

Do you ever call into work or put off doing something because you don't feel well and you plan to do it the next day, but you feel even worse and realized you should have done it anyway? That was a LONG sentence! That happens to me alot. I hope I don't wake up tomorrow feeling worse then today and realized that I should have gone to work today and prepped someone to cover for me at my meeting.

Anyway, I'm heading back to bed-night ladies!

Love Swap!

I participated in Katie's fun love swap! My swap partner was the sweet Lyryn from Breaking Through :)

Look at all the fabulous stuff she got me! (please excuse the picture quality, I'm currently deciding on whether or not to get a new camera)

There may or may not have also been a peanut butter chocolate heart and a marshmallow chocolate heart that I may or may not have eaten before this picture was taken-ha!

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day!

I can't believe...

it's been nearly two weeks since I last posted! I've been so incredibly behind on reading everyone's blogs and I hate posting myself until I'm caught up. And guess what!?!? I FINALLY am! Seriously, it probably took 10-12 hours of blog reading since Friday to do it, but I'm up to date. And I'm sorry I haven't been commenting, but I didn't want to just skip reading over anyone's blog and commenting would have taken so long :(

I fully plan on being back tomorrow with a post about my swap gift!

Bachelor Spoiler...

I never watch The Bachelor but for some reason I got sucked into this season. I just finished watching tonight's episode and I can't believe Vienna is still there! I have no clue what Jake sees in her, but I looked up the spoilers online and they say she's the winner of the whole show! I can't believe it. Ali's my absolute favorite and the spoilers say she leaves voluntarily after the home town dates-I really hope it's not true :(

Hmmm, this was a very shallow post...back to more serious things soon!
