Blame it on the al-al-al-alcohol...

I'm not a big drinker. Let me re-phrase that...I very, very rarely drink. I just don't like the taste of alcohol. I don't understand why I would want to pay $6 for an alcoholic drink when I can pay $2 for a soda and like the soda much more.

However, I do want to be able to go out with friends and enjoy a drink every once in awhile. Or sit at home and curl up with a drink and watch a movie. I enjoy a little buzz, but jeez sometimes I feel like I have to choke down my drink to get that buzz and it's soooo not worth it.

I do like cherry vodka sours, but they have to be made with expensive liquor so I can't taste the alcohol and not many places make them right. I've tried drinking wine because it always looks so sophisticated on tv, but it's not for me. I can't stand beer and tequila makes me gag.

Anyone have any good drink suggestions for me? I love fruity drinks, but normally order them virgin. I just want to be able to enjoy a drink with friends every once in awhile!

This morning I was driving to work and BAM! A headache hit me out of nowhere. I took two extra strength Tylenol as soon as I got to work and then two more 4 hours later, without much relief. Drinking a soda seemed to help the most with the nausea but I honestly got absolutely nothing done at work. I just couldn't concentrate on anything but getting through the day and not throwing up. I came home and took another kind of pain pill and when that didn't work I called the pharmacist at Walgreens and asked what I could take. I was seriously considering going to the emergency room if I didn't get some kind of relief soon! The pharmacist was sooo nice and told me it would be okay for me to take Excedrin on top of everything else I had taken. I'd never used it before, but I'm finally starting to feel better. I'm drained, but the nausea has subsided. Lesson? Take excedrin first next time I get a headache like this. What do you guys use to get rid of a headache? Any natural remedies that you swear by?

Victoria's Secret

I happen to LOVE Victoria's Secret. I buy all my panties and bras there because the bras fit me fantastically and the panties are good quality and last for a long time. I also can't get enough of their pink line and own far too many pairs of their sweat pants.

I think we should all have fun with our bras and panties even if no else is seeing them...well let's hope someone else is seeing them, but you know what I mean! I always feel much sexier knowing I'm wearing a cute pair of panties even if I'm wearing boring clothes to work.

So anyway, I bought these cute lace trim bikini panties today. I actually think this picture is of a thong, but I had trouble finding the ones I got in the store on their site online. I have an Angel card (which I recommend you all get even if you never use it because you get crazy coupons) and they sent me a coupon for a free pair of panties (I get one of these at least once a month and I maybe use the card once a year and pay it off in full) and then because I have an Angel card I got to pick 7 pairs of panties for $25. My new obsession are these lace trimmed panties (although you can't get them as the free pair). I like that the lace is so wide on the sides and they don't dig into me or get uncomfortable. They had tons of different designs so I'm very happy with my purchase. And the best part...if I had paid full price for each of the 7 pairs and paid for the free pair, it would have cost me about $80 total. I walked out paying right around $27!

Okay, so enough of this panty and bra talk...Running Around Normal is having a giveaway for a banana holder, which sounds kind of odd, but I totally want it!

Night ladies!

Random Thursday...

This is a pretty random post, but I've got lots going on lately!

Yesterday my mom and I decided to start a challenge to see who can lose the largest percent of body weight by January 1st. If I win, then she has to take a spin class with me and both my parents have to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity with me for one day. If my mom wins, then I have to walk my parents extremely hyper 6 mth old German Shepherd puppy everyday for a month. We started today! I weighed myself this morning and took a picture as proof for my mom-I'm at a whopping 212 lbs-yikes! In order to help myself out a bit, I met with a dietician that I work with and we went over my BMI and eating habits and what I need to do to get healthy. We set a goal of losing 20 lbs by the end of the challenge so I'm super excited!

I've got less than 2 months until I close on my house so I've been shopping around for the best interest rate and home insurance premium. I have to say that all of this has been pretty stressful and there have been definite crying moments, but I'm trying to remind myself that it will all be worth it in the end!

The State Fair started this week so I'm super excited! I'm sure it will totally throw off all my healthy goals, but it only comes around once a year. I think I might get a chance to go this weekend :)

I had a meeting tonight for my volunteer group and it was a blast. I love all the girls and I always leave the meetings feeling motivated to be a better person. I truly believe that we should surround ourselves with positive people and it will rub off on us. Tonight I got my "big sis" kind of person. They don't call them that, but it's basically the same thing. All the new members get paired up with the older members and they gave us a rose. Then we'll have someone that can answer all our questions and all that. I also won a prize-the cutest tote-for being the first person to turn in an order form for our latest fundraiser!

Okay, that's enough rambling for the night!

Cake Balls

I made cake balls for the first time last night! I've been seeing them on different blogs for months now so I thought I'd give it a try. I used a yellow butter cake mix, cream cheese icing and chocolate almond bark. Monday I baked the cake, crumbled it up, mixed in the icing and rolled it out into balls. Since the cake has to completely cool before you crumble it and because the balls need to be put in the fridge or freezer for a little bit before you dip them, I decided I was done for the night. I left them in the fridge until yesterday afternoon. I melted the almond bark, dipped each ball in and let them sit in the fridge until this morning. I packed them up and brought them to work-I hope everyone likes them! I ate a couple and they're too sweet for me, but that's good because I'm not tempted to eat more!

Firemen are a weakness of mine!

If you haven't guessed it by now, I'm a huge animal lover. It kills me to see those LOST DOG posters on telephone poles because I always think about how I would feel if my puppy somehow got lost. And when I see a stray dog it always makes me sad and I want to pull over, but either the dog runs away and I can't find it or I'm not in a good place to pull over (the highway) or I just don't do it.

Today that all changed. I was driving to work and saw all these cars swerving around a little dog in the middle of the road. He looked pretty old and was about 25 lbs. I pulled over and got him to come over to me and it was just so sad! I don't know if he was hurt or what, but he just seemed out of it. I picked him and took him back to my car and when I put him down he kind of yelped and snapped at me so I think he must have been hurt somehow. Well I call the non-emergency police number and they transfer to the right department. I tell them I found a dog and ask someone to come pick it up. The lady tells me that they don't start pick ups for at least an hour and I got upset because I had to go to work and couldn't wait on the side of the road for that long. I asked her for any other options and she said I'd just have to let the dog go. I couldn't do that and felt like she wasn't being helpful, so I put the dog in my car and drove up the road to a Fire Station. I would say at least 10 men came out to see what I was doing and their captain agreed to keep the dog until someone could come and get it! I was so happy because I would have worried and worried all day if I had let it go. That kind of stuff really gets to me. He could be someone's pet! He was really sweet except when I think I hurt him-he laid down in my back seat and curled was adorable. And...I got to start my day off doing a good deed and seeing a bunch of men in uniform-mmmmm.

Lol. Anyway....don't forget to enter the giveaway I posted about here-it ends tomorrow!

I've been a movie watching fool!

I love watching movies. There's something about curling up on the couch with some popcorn and watching a really good movie.

Yesterday I went and saw Julie & Julia with my parents and it was really good! I think it was a little over two hours so it was kind of long, but it's definitely one I want to buy when it comes out. I also think I'll pick up the book now that I've seen the movie. I hate being disappointed in the movie after reading the book so sometimes I see the movie first.

I met up with a friend for dinner last night at one of our favorite pizza places. We got some frozen yogurt afterwards and just sat talking for a really long time. It's been months since I've seen her so we had so much to catch up on! We ended up going back to her apartment to watch Definitely, Maybe. I hadn't seen it and thought it was super cute!

After I left her apartment I came home, but wasn't tired. Since I didn't have to wake up for work today (yay!) I put in another movie-Legally Blonde. It's one of my all time favs when I'm in a bad mood and need a pick me up. I love that Elle perseveres and finishes what she sets out to do so when I need some motivation to make positive changes in my life, I pop in this movie.

I'm really trying to work on making some big life changes, but I'm just taking it day by day and decision by decision.

Don't forget to enter the giveaway I posted about ends Wednesday!

Have a lovely Labor Day ladies!

I heart shopping!

I had picked up a Cosmo magazine last week and it had a coupon for a free mini-facial at Origins so I scheduled that for this morning. The facialist didn't show up though so I ended up getting my make-up done by someone else that works there. It turned out pretty cute. Does anyone else use Origins? I'm looking for a new foundation and Clinique (what I'm using now) makes me break out.

Anyway, since I was already at the mall, I went to the GAP and picked up these Trouser Pants in black:

I already have the color above and I absolutely LOVE them. I've been having alot of trouble finding pants that fit and look good at work and these work perfectly. I also had a 20% off coupon so woohoo!

My new favorite place to pick up work clothes is Ann Taylor Loft. Today I got this in the pink and the purple and I got this in the buttercream. Earlier this week I picked up two of these in black and white and this in ivory. I also really, really want this but I haven't quite convinced myself to pay full price for it yet. And I noticed that when I went in today, they were already sold out of size large in the purple and only had a couple left in the black so I doubt it will go on sale in my size. Sorry for all the links-the pictures wanted to load really small and I couldn't figure out how to fix it.

I added my latest Twitter posts to the side of my blog and would love it you followed me!

Don't forget to enter the giveaway I posted about here-it ends Wednesday!!!

Have a good night ladies!

A Survey...

I got tagged by Sonja at For the Love of Stilettos to do a survey!
Here are the rules…1. Respond and rework: answer the questions on your blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention, add one more question of your own.2. Tag other un-tagged people.
The Questions:
What is your current obsession? Finishing building the house and getting moved in!
Do you have any pets? I have a little 10 lb morkie (half yorkie/half maltese) boy named Maxwell. :)
What’s your favorite dinner? Hmm pasta or pizza...basically Italian.
What was the last thing you bought? I think it was a cookies and cream milkshake at Braums on Tuesday.
What are you listening to right now? People talking
What is your favorite weather? The fall! I love the cooler weather and how pretty it gets when the leaves change. It just makes me want to curl up with a blanket and book with a fire going.
What is your least favorite season? The part of winter where there's been ice on the road for's not pretty like snow and it scares the crap out of me to drive in and I hate getting up early to warm up my car and scrape off all the ice that's accumulated overnight.
What’s in your purse? My favorite COACH wallet, an umbrella (I always carry one and people make fun of me, but it comes in handy!), tylenol, other meds, chapstick and two kinds of gloss, my reading glasses, my sunglasses, my planner...I could go on and on. It's a pretty big tote bag so it contains much of my life-ha!
Say something to the person/s who tagged you : Sonja has the cutest blog-go check her out!
What is your favorite dessert or cool treat? Ice cream-always ice cream. I love ice cream cake, ice cream cones, ice cream in a cup...I love it all!
What did you want to become as a child? When I was really little I wanted to be a teacher, but as I got older I really wanted to be an attorney. That didn't work out so well because I was in the hospital with complication from my ruptured appendix the day law school started. And then I started working and decided to not go back after my 1 year deferment. I'm thinking about getting my MBA now.
What do you miss? My ex-boyfriend. He was my best friend too, so I feel like I'm missing a part of me.
What’s your favorite brand of jeans? Hmm, well when I'm thin, I really like Abercrombie jeans. Right now, it's whatever looks the best-typically Lane Bryant.
If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go? Hawaii. I really miss it too.
Who do you want to meet in person? Well my mom's dad died when I was third grade, but I didn't really know him at all. I would love to get that chance.
What are your most challenging goals right now? Buying a home, moving in, and starting to get my MBA.
What’s your 5 year plan? I've sort of given up on 5 year plans-I've learned that things don't always go according plan and I need to be VERY flexible. So, I've just got a vague idea in my head. Ideally, I'd like to be married and starting to have kids, but we'll see.
Why is today special? Umm, because I made it out of bed and got to work when all I wanted to do was sleep?
What is you favorite sport to watch? I don't really like to watch sports.
Describe your perfect day: Sleeping in, beautiful weather, nothing I have to do that day, cuddling on the couch watching movies or baking...basically just a really relaxing day.
What TV show would you want to be a cast member on (reality included)? I don't really have a desire to be on a TV show.
What is your biggest regret? See my Wishful Wednesday post!
What is your most prized possesion? Probably my puppy. It's amazing how much a little pup can change you. It's odd to have something completely depend on you and to love it that much. Oh, man I wonder how I'm going to be with kids!
What's your favorite thing to order at Starbucks? I love those caramel macchiatos!

Okay soooo these are the ladies I'm tagging:

Wishful Wednesday!

Today is the very first time for Wishful Wednesday's! Kelsey at The Seattle Smiths started this up, so click here to read all the rules, so you can participate too!

Today's topic is: 'I wish' .... I could go back in time and change one decision I made,
and it would be ____! So here's my wish...

I wish I could go back in time and change one decision I made, and it would be to live in the moment. I've always been a worrier. I just can't seem to help it. I have a really hard time just living in the moment and I used to spend a majority of my time looking at the past and wishing things could be as good as they once were...which really makes no sense since during those "good" times, I was worrying about what was yet to come. I feel like I didn't truly get to enjoy high school because I was worried about getting into college and making good grades and building my resume. I didn't spend nearly as much time with my friends as I would have liked to. Same goes for college. While I absolutely LOVED college, I wish I had been able to appreciate the moments a little more. I had a hard time enjoying things because I always knew that I had something else that needed to get done-studying, work, etc. I don't want to wake up and realize that my life passed me.

So I'm working on it. I'm working on appreciating how blessed I really am. I'm working on figuring out what's really worth stressing over and what I can let go.

I hope you participate in Wishful Wednesdays!

I must confess...

I'm having a love affair with Etsy lately. It's true. In the past week, I've bought a great black, white and red original Gocco print that I framed, a black and white damask lunch bag, and a black and white damask address book!

As you can probably tell, I'm sort of addicted to the whole black and white theme, but it's really helping the apartment come together! And I love that you can get things on Etsy that you can't find in stores. It's very unlikely that you'll walk into someone else's home and see exactly what you just bought. I love that I can be original!

So to continue with this whole Etsy craziness, I heard about a giveaway! Your Wishcake has her own Etsy store and is giving away a bunch of goodies to a lucky winner. You should check out her blog-she's such a sweet girl!
