Meet Madelynne!

Here she is! She's super hard to take a picture of because you can hardly see her eyes! I'll be scheduling a haircut soon :) So far her and Max seem to get along fine...a more detailed update to come!

There's a new addition to the family!!!

I'm getting a new puppy! She's a little girl just like Max-half Yorkie and half Maltese :-) I pick her up Thursday and I'm so excited I've had to restrain myself from breaking out into a happy dance all day!

I really, really hope she gets along with Max. I think he could use a little playmate and I'll be heartbroken if they don't like each other. It would defeat the whole purpose of getting another dog. I'm also a little scared to change the whole routine we have going. Max is seriously the sweetest, easy dog ever...what if the new puppy isn't sweet and lovable? What if she's a terror? (I played with her today, but only for like 5 minutes so that didn't really give me a good idea of her personality) Yikes! Send good puppy dust my way! I want everything to go well!

BTW she's 9 weeks old, weighs 2.5 lbs and I've named her Madelynne! Pictures to come soon!

P.S. I bought the sweater/coat so I'll give you a review once I get it! Oh, and don't forget to enter the giveaway! There's still time!

Spool No. 72

I was reading A Blonde Ambition's blog when she posted about this site called Spool No. 72. I had never heard of them, but she showed this sweater/coat:

and I fell in love! It's less than $70 with shipping, but since I haven't heard of the site, I don't really know anything about their quality or reputation.

What do you guys think? Any idea if the company is trustworthy? Think the sweater is cute enough to buy?

I'm suffering from addiction

I'm not gonna sugar coat things here folks...I have a slight addiction I'm struggling with. I know I should stop or at least get some help, but I have no desire to quit at all...I have to get my fix EVERY SINGLE MORNING...I don't even want to think about all the money I'm throwing away on this habit...Oh, why do I have to love my Starbucks iced white chocolate mochas with no whip cream?

Picutres Galore!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas! This is truly one of the best times of the year! While giving presents is one of my favorite parts of the holiday because I love seeing everyone's faces when they open their gifts and it makes my day to know I got something for someone that they will really appreciate, I unfortunately didn't get to give very many gifts yet this year because of the snow storm. I was supposed to meet up with friends today but the roads are still really bad. So...I took some pictures of some of my gifts that my parents gave me! (Oh, and ignore the bad house needs to be cleaned so there's stuff in the backgrounds and my camera isn't quite up to par...)

Clinique Happy is pretty much the only perfume I wear and I'm almost out so this gift set was much appreciated!

I asked for this movie because it has such a great message-I watched it last night!

This might be my very favorite gift! I can't wait to get started! I have to wait though because I shoveled tons of snow and I can barely move today :(

I braved the weather this morning and went to Target to return some things and to take advantage of all the Christmas stuff being 50% off! I don't usually buy anything new in terms of decorations before the holidays unless it's something I need like Christmas lights or extension cords. I usually do all my shopping right after! These are a bunch of gift boxes and bows and gift tags...

Some more gift bags, ribbon, gift tags, ornaments to tie to the ribbon on gifts...

These are HUGE ornaments that were only $2.99 a piece. I'm going to string up some garland over the garage next year and hang these in the middle!

Christmas bowls! I don't have the rest of the set, but I figure they'll look cute with a silvery charger as a place setting next year. Can you tell I'm into silver for some reason?

I couldn't pass up this little guy! I saw him full price a little over a week ago and I'm so glad they had some left for me to pick up this morning!

My parents got me these comfy house shoes so I'm not freezing when I let Max outside. (He wanted to be in every picture!)

My parents also picked up this CD for me because I'm a huge Sugarland fan! My favorite song on the CD is "Settlin'." It's sort of become my new anthem for 2010. I am tired of settling and it's time to set the bar higher in all aspects of my life!

I picked up this contact paper today while at Target. If you've been reading my blog for awhile you know I love this black and white pattern so I couldn't pass it up! Plus my cabinets smell like stain still which makes my glasses smell that way and I hate drinking out of my glasses so I hope this helps!

And this is my favorite purchase of the day!!!! It's a cupcake tower! I've been wanting one for the longest time and I just happened to stumble across it today. I guess Target considers it a holiday item because it was also 50% off! I can't wait to use it-I think my co-workers better get used to cupcakes!

So I have this niche in my dining room that I didn't know what to do with, but I think I found the perfect solution for winter! I put it together from all kinds of things at Pier One. I'm thinking that maybe I'll get a big vase and put lemons in it for Spring...

More snowy pictures!

It hasn't snowed since Christmas Eve, but the drifts have been huge! There was 3 ft of snow piled up the whole width of my driveway so I been shoveling tons of snow. I was really worried about getting out and driving today, but I made it to Target okay. I saw lots of cars in the ditches and some spin out so I was glad when I made it there safely...then I got stuck in the parking lot! I couldn't believe I made it all the way there only to get stuck :( Some really nice people gave me a push out. Once I was done shopping I just decided to come home instead of run more errands and then I got stuck in my driveway! I have this little lip you have to go over to get into the driveway and I just kept getting stuck on all the ice and not going anywhere. I had to dig myself out and I finally got the car in the driveway! I think I'm avoiding the roads for!

Snowed in!

Merry Christmas Eve! We're in the middle of big snow storm so I've spent the day inside and it's been lovely! I only wish I had a real fireplace because I don't want to pay for the gas to run the one I have :( So I wrapped up most of my presents and took a picture:
The four above are for my parents. I love fun wrapping paper so it's hard for me to only stick to a Christmas theme. I figure two out of four isn't too bad! Don't you love the zebra?

And the polka dots?

My package from UPS finally came! I got a little bottle of hand sanitizer, a key chain and a vanilla candle for all of my girlfriends. They all are personalized with the letter of their first names and I love them! The only bad part was that all three of my "a" candles and the keychain I ordered for myself were broken. The seller is awesome though and she's going to send me out replacements soon. I also got a bunch of Christmas ornaments and stuff like that for my friends so I can't wait to give everybody their presents!

This is a name plate that I got for my best friends baby. His name is Hayden (obviously-lol!) and it's going to look so cute in his nursery. His mom graduated from OSU so his nursery is all black and orange themed so this should fit right in!

I got this cute little treat jar for Max! My decorating colors are primarily red and black so this is sitting in my kitchen.

Man did we get some snow today! This is my backyard-the drifts come almost up to my waist!

More snow...poor Max won't even go out to go to the bathroom and I can tell he's miserable. I hope he doesn't have too many accidents in the house!

This is Max before the snow really picked up. You can't even see the porch at all anymore.

And finally, I colored my hair so I thought I'd throw in a picture of it-it makes me happy!

P.S. Don't forget to enter my giveaway!

Good morning!

Wow-thanks to everyone that entered my giveaway! I was absolutely blown away by the response. The last time I did a giveaway, I got like 3 entries so this one was a big surprise to me! I'm also truly touched by all the new blogs I'm getting to learn about. Many of the entries came from owners raising guide dogs and that just brings a smile to my face. You should check out the comments and visit some of them :)
In other news...I have a fever of 100.8 and sore lymph nodes. My skin just plain hurts, which sounds weird, but it's true. I feel like I have bruises all over my body that don't hurt unless I move so I went to the docotor yesterday and he thinks I might have an infection. He started me on an antibiotic which normally makes me feel better in the first 12 hours, but so far I'm feeling worse. I hope this clears up soon!
UPS has a package full of Christmas gifts that I planned on giving out, but I haven't received it yet. It's been in the state since the 11th, but I wasn't aware of that until the 18th. I called and they said it was delayed because my address was incorrect so I verified it and they said it was right in their system and they would send it out the 21st. I didn't recieve it the 21st so I called again. They said my address was still incorrect, so I verified it and then told them to just deliver it my parents house because they live about 5 miles away and get UPS packages all the time. It was supposed to be delivered to their house yesterday. It didn't arrive so I called last night and they said they never sent it out, but don't show a reason why.'s supposed to go out today, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm pretty sure I'll never use UPS again. I really don't understand why it's so difficult to deliver this package and why I have to tell them my address a million times.
And I think that's about it from me, cause I'm kind of cranky since I don't feel well and don't want to gripe all day...hope your day is going okay!

Let me start out by saying that I don't even watch entertainment news that much or listen to the radio all that often. However...all this Tiger Woods stuff is constantly being talked about, even in the relatively short amounts that I'm exposing myself to it! must be sinking into my brain because last night I dreamed that I was number 15 on his list of women. I have absolutely no clue why he starred in my dreams last night considering I don't even have the faintest bit of a celebrity crush on him, but there I was engaging in umm...well not so good behavior with Mr. Woods.

Therefore, I have to conclude that the media has drug this one on too long! I'm sick of hearing about it and certaintly don't want to spend another night scheming with Tiger on when to meet him and what fancy jewelry he can buy me...I'm appalled at myself!

Wishful Wednesday!

I'm so glad that I'm finally able to get back to participating in Wishful Wednesday! If you aren't familiar with it, check out Kelsey's blog (and she's one of my favorite bloggers so I definitely recommend checking her out even if you aren't interested in Wishful Wednesday)!

Today's topic is: 'I wish' .... I could relive one particular holiday experience over and over again, and it would be going to my grandparents in New Jersey when I was little!

I lived in Hawaii from the time I was two until I turned seven. I'm not positive, but I think that we flew to my grandparents in New Jersey every single Christmas during those years. It was always so exciting for me to see my grandparents, aunts, uncle and family friends. I was the only grandchild during that time so I was completely spoiled rotton and always had someone ready to play with me! My aunts would let me walk around in their high heeled shoes and take me for manicures and my grandpa always had yummy ice cream treats for me. It was also the one time each year that I was guaranteed to see some snow! Living in Hawaii was awesome, but snow is so much fun when you're a little kid and you don't have to worry about scraping your car or driving on slick roads. The biggest thing I worried about was who was going to come outside and play with me. One year my dad built me this huge slide type thing and sometimes he would take me to the frozen lake and pull me around on a sled. Those truly were great times!

That's all for me, but I hope you participate!

I need some ideas girls!

I need help with what I should bring to work for Christmas this year!

My first year I baked cookies and filled little individual clear bags with cookies and M&M's.

Last year I did chocolate covered pretzels like this picture-only not quite as pretty :)

So what should I do this year? It doesn't necessarily have to be sweets, but or something that I can individually package, so give me some ideas ladies! PLEASE!

I'm all about moving lately...

I just moved into the house last month and I'm going to be making another big move again soon! This time it's gonna be with my blog!

I'm actually really, really excited. When I started this blog it was meant to be a healthy fitness kind of blog. However, as time progressed I realized that I truly enjoy blogging about so many other things then just what I ate that day or when I exercised. I want to blog about decorating and cooking and cleaning and friends and puppies and....well anything and everything that I could possibly want to blog about.

I also chose the title of "The Wonderful World of Me!" on a whim because I needed a title to start a blog. I don't really feel connected to it though. It kind of sounds conceited and that wasn't what I meant at all. I'm keeping my new blog title a secret for now, but this time it will actually say something about me and why I'm blogging. I even set up a new google email address to go with it! I was getting a little uncomfortable about using my current email address because it has personal info and this is out there for the whole world to see. What can I say? My mamma raised me to be a cautious kiddo.

So anyway, the move won't take place for awhile. I'm going to import all my posts from this blog into that one because I eventually want to delete this blog. Even though the focus of my blog will be different then when I first started with this one, I still want to be able to look back on those old posts and see where I was in life.

I plan on getting someone to design the new blog and jazz it all up and then hopefully all of you guys will start following me-I'd hate to lose any of you, which is the one negative about this move :(

I think it will be a few more weeks, but I just couldn't wait to tell you guys!

Lately I find myself thinking alot about my life. I lay awake in bed and marvel at what a great life I have. That's not to say that things never go wrong or there's not room for improvement, but overall, I am truly blessed.

I have this amazing home. Not only are my most basic shelter needs being met, they are being completely exceeded. I absolutely love my home. It was a long process starting with choosing the plans and then watching as it got built step by step, but it was totally worth it. I just sit in the living room and look around and I can't believe how lucky I am.

I have a great family. My parents always let me know that they care about it me and want the best for me. I know without a doubt that everything good in me comes from them. They taught me my values and the difference between right and wrong and I only hope I can do the same with my children one day. I love them so much and as I get older I'm becoming so much more aware then I want to be, that they too are getting older. I can't imagine not having them in my life and want to truly make the most of the time we get here one earth.

I have a job that allows me to pay the bills and I enjoy. It's rare that you come across both. While this isn't my dream job, I certaintly can't complain about having a job in this economy. And I've made friends here, that I never would have met had I not had to re-evaluate my plans and take a step out of my comfort zone.

I know that most 24 year olds wouldn't think of their health as much as I do. But, most 24 year olds haven't been told by so many people that they are lucky to be alive. Right after I had all those complications with my appendix rupturing, I spent LOTS of time in the hospital and I would hear how lucky I was daily. At first it shocked me because I couldn't really comprehend how serious the situation was. I focused on getting through day by day and my family made me feel safe and loved. As I sit here thinking back about that time in life, I remember my dad holding my hand one night and asking me not to die and my mom crying when the doctors would talk to her. 2007 was really hard on me and my family and I'm soooo thankful that I'm here today. I go about daily life and forget that I wasn't really supposed to be here today. That God decided to keep me here for some reason when medical science says I shouldn't have gotten to experience my 22nd birthday with my family, much less be getting to turn 25 next April, is absolutely mind blowing to me. I used to sit in the hospital and make all kinds of promises to myself-I would never take life for granted, I would find my purpose and pursue it with a passion, etc. It's hard to maintain that kind of motivation when you're no longer sitting in a hospital bed. I don't want to ever forget though, because I am truly blessed.

Get to know me-Christmas Edition!

Christa posted this over on her blog. It's a cute idea!

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? - I like both. Gift bags are easier, but I just bought some super cute wrapping paper that I can't wait to use! Oh and I got the cutest little boxes at Target this weekend that I also can't to use!
2. Real tree or artificial? - I love going to the Tree Farm and picking out a tree to cut down. My parents did this with me when I lived at home and it always smelled wonderful in the house. However, I bought an artificial one to use for now in my own house. Once I have kids and they're old enough to go, we'll go back to getting a real one :)
3. When do you put up the tree? - Well my mom always does it Thanksgiving weekend, but I just do it when I have time or get the motivation. Shhhh...I haven't even put mine up this year yet! I might just wait until next year to go all out on the decorating.
4. Do you like eggnog? - I want to say no and I probably don't, but I can't actually recall a time that I've had it.
5. Favorite gift received as a child? - My parents always got me great gifts...hmmm the pogo stick was awesome and so was my skip-it.
6. Do you have a nativity scene? - Nope
7. Hardest person to buy for? - Shawn-he's an absolute pain to by for because he'll say he likes things, but he doesn't like them enough to get them as a present.
8. Easiest person to buy for? - My girlfriends. We like the same things so I just pick out stuff that I'm drawn to.
9. Mail or email Christmas cards? - Mail-I love getting mail! Unless it's bills, though :(
10. Favorite Christmas movie? - Don't judge me, but I don't realy like Christmas movies or music. I'm weird I know...
11. When do you start shopping for Christmas? - Usually late November or early December, but I need to start earlier because going to the stores right now drives me crazy! There are entirely too many people out and the stores get sold out of everything!
12. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? - Mashed potatoes, rolls, broccoli and cheese casserole, gravy, green beans...I could go on and on...
13. Clear lights or colored lights on the tree? - Clear! I like how streamlined and pretty they are.
14. Favorite Christmas song? - If I had to pick, I would say Santa Baby
15. Travel or stay home at Christmas? - I usually go over to my parents, although they might start coming over to my house in the next few years
16. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? - Blitzen, Rudolph, Daner, Vixen, Donner...hmm I'm not sure I even got those right...
17. Angel on tree top or star? - STAR!
18. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? - When I was little I would open one present on Christmas Eve and the rest the next morning. Now we just open everything Christmas morning.
19. The most annoying thing about this time of year? - The crowds and trying to find things in the stores once a ton of people have been through and moved everything.
20. What I love most about Christmas - The atmosphere: the cold weather, sweaters, hot chocolate, Christmas lights, giving presents, decorating-this really is a great time of year!

  • I spilled coffee down the entire front of my shirt on the way to work today. Thankfully it was iced coffee and not hot, but the huge stains I have running down my shirt are to say the least a bit ridiculous.
  • I have decided to use my coffee stained shirt as an excuse to run up to the mall and buy a new shirt...I'm thinking something from J-Crew or Ann Taylor...
  • I worked until 10pm last night and feel like I never really left this place
  • I still haven't put Christmas lights on the house or brought out my tree...and...I'm seriously considering paying someone to put up the lights. How lazy is that!?!?
  • I downloaded the "Lose It" application for my iphone and I'm pretty darn excited about it. What I'm not excited about is that I've already used nearly 500 calories this morning, which leaves me at less than a thousand for lunch, snack and dinner. Which is totally doable, but extremely hard when I'll be at the mall and pizza starts calling me name.
  • I also downloaded the grocery gadget ap and it's fabulous!
  • My puppy was feeling kind of sick, but thankfully he seemed to start feeling so much better last night!
  • I weighed myself this morning in only a bra and panties...which would have been fine had I chosen to do that in a room that had curtains or blinds. Instead I just hoped my neighbors wouldn't decide to look out their window that directly faces my guest bathroom where I banished the scale.
  • I'm going to see New Moon next Saturday!

Alrighty, I think that's enough with the bullets-have a great day girls!

101 in 1001 Update

My 101 list has kind of gotten neglected, so I'm doing this update to get back on track!

1. Travel out of state with just Max: I haven't done this one yet and I may need to modify it. I do want to take a little trip with Max (my puppy), but I won't be able to just leave him at a hotel room by himself while I went out because he would freak out and cry the whole time. So...still working on figuring out this one.
2. Pay off my car: I'm paying extra on it each month so slowly but surely, it's getting there!
3. Order a magazine subscription: DONE-ordered SHAPE on 07-09-09
4. Take up a new sporting activity-swimming, running, etc: This has definitely not happened yet. Everytime I try running I get bad shin splints and end up quitting. I hope if I lose some weight, running will be easier because there won't be so much pressure on my joints.
5. Get a new girl puppy: I'm waiting on this because puppies can be so expensive! However, when I do get her, I'm naming her Madelyne.
6. Go to the zoo: I went with Shawn on 07-05-09 and had a great time!

8. Take 50 new friend pictures: I have been seriously slacking on this, but I hope to get a new camera soon and go picture crazy!
9. Take 20 new Max pictures: I have taken some, but didn't keep count so I need to start over.
10. Don't complain for an entire day: this has been way more difficult then I anticipated. I just really need to make an effort soon and do this.
11. Complete the C25K program: I'm waiting to lose some weight to try this again.
12. Run in a 5K: need to finish the C25K program first.
13. Eat healthy for an entire week: I want to do this one right and research it. I don't just want to avoid junk food-I want to make sure I get all the correct amount of servings that are recommended and all that goodness.
14. Customize blog: I've done some of this, but need to actually pay someone to get me a header and signature, etc. I'm not computer savvy enough.
15. Write in paper journal everyday for a month: I've started this several times and still haven't made it everyday for a month.
16. Print all pictures on camera: DONE on 05/16/09.

26. Decorate home: This is a work in progress, but it's coming along!

  • Complimented a real estate agents necklace at Century 21 on 05-13-09
  • Complimented a lady's shoes in the elevator at work on 05-27-09
This one is so easy and I can't believe I haven't already completed it-time to get to work!
28. Try 30 new recipes:
  • Jumbo stuffed pasta shells: I didn't write down the date on this one, but at least I know it was in 2009. It tasted alright, but it didn't knock my socks off.
  • BBQ Chicken Nachos in 2009: now this was amazing and I need to make it again soon
29. Buy a house: DONE on 11-1209!
30. Save $5,000: This one is gonna take awhile!
31. Start a Roth IRA: I really need to do this. My work doesn't offer a 401K so I need to research and find out what I need to do to start one.
32. Get Medical Records: I still need to get them from another hospital, but I have some of them.
33. Do something nice for my parents: My parents have done sooo much for me that I really want to do something for them, but I can't think of anything nice enough.
34. Wear a string bikini in public and feel good: This is not gonna happen until I lose weight.

Slumber Party!

I need your help! I want to plan a little slumber party with two of my best friends and I want to pull out all the stops to make it amazing. Lately, I find myself really craving a way to fulfill this need I have to be all domestic and a good hostess. It's gotten even worse since I moved in the house, so I think a slumber party will be fun! These are my ideas so far:
  • Chick flicks obviously, but which ones? Some of the ones that I have are The Notebook, 27 dresses, The Devil Wears Prada, Because I Said So, Knocked Up, Sex and The City...anything I should make sure to include?
  • Making smores in the fireplace
  • Buying a king size foam bed thing (not sure what those are officially called) and spreading out tons of blankets and pillows on top of it in the living room for us all to watch movies and sleep on.
  • Buying tons of stuff to make a sundae bar
  • Making our own pizza
  • Buying some wine

What are some other ideas? Maybe different food? I don't really feel like we'd be doing anything other than eating and watching movies, but what else do you do at a slumber party? Oh, and I don't want to go tp someone's house or decorate someone's car...I have a vision of an adult slumber party (if that's even possible!).

I need you guys! Give me lots of ideas! Please :-)

I'm thankful for:
  • My amazing parents. They've given me waaay more than I deserve and I wouldn't be the person I am without them.
  • My friends. I've been MIA lately because of the house stuff and they still love me. One of my besties came over last night to check out the house and even though I haven't seen her in over a month, we picked up right where we left off. Friends are precious!
  • Shawn. I've also been neglecting to spend as much time with him as I should and starting today I'm going to make an effort to spoil him a little more!
  • My job. Even though it is sometimes difficult, I'm very thankful to even have a job in this economy. It allows me to have a home and provide for the things that I need and even some of the things that I want.
  • I'm thankful for my health. Even though I'm not 100%, I've come so far from where I was a couple of years ago.
  • Mr. Maxwell. Since I don't have any children, I truly do consider Max to be my little babe. He's got such a sweet puppy and I can't imagine each day without him.

Have a great Thanksgiving Holiday!

Hi ladies! I have some pictures of the house to show you! They're a little out of order, but I'm just proud of myself for taking them and getting them on here. I would make everything all pretty and put it all in the correct order, but work has been sooo busy that I haven't had any time to blog there and FlashForward and Grey's come on soon so I've got to hurry! :)

This first picture is a close up of the curtains I bought for the living room. They're black with those cream circles and I have to say I think they're perfect. Interesting, but not too busy.
This picture is a close up of my mantle. Last year I didn't have a mantle to hang stockings on so I bought those little hook things that you can stick to walls and stuck them to my entertainment unit and hung the stockings on that-kinda lame! So after Christmas I went to Hobby Lobby and got this stocking holder on sale and I'm so thrilled that I have a mantle to put it on this year!
This picture is of the living room curtains. I actually thought about making them longer, but I may end up putting a little table or bench in front of the window and these are the perfect length for that...I guess we'll see!
This is my mantle with the garland and lights all light up! It's so pretty at night when I turn off the rest of the lights and just have those lit up.
This is a close up of the curtains I bought for the office. They're black chandelier curtains that I got at Target because I wanted something fun for the office. Although, with the chair and curtains, I definitely need to stay away from pattern when decorating the rest of the room. It could get overwhelming pretty quickly!
And these are the curtains with the rest of the room. I have no idea why it's so dark.
So that's my update for the day! I hope to do a BIG 101 list update soon, but that will take some time and I'm not sure when I'll have the time to do it. Right now work is beyond crazy busy, which I don't understand since this is usually a slow time for us. And then I still need to paint and clean the apartment so I can turn in my keys and I still have quite a bit of unpacking and decorating to do with the house. I'm exhausted just thinking about it!
